September 1-3, 2009 The beginning of an educational project, organized by the Donkey Sanctuary in cooperation with the schools of Mazatepec. |
Now that we have gained the trust of the village, it is time to include the most important members of the community - the youth. For that reason, the group Donkey Sanctuary, who we have been working with for over a year, is now beginning an awareness program relating to the health and humane treatment of animals, especially equines, in addition to the free monthly veterinary service that they have been offering. These photos reflect their first days in the primary and secondary schools of Mazatepec. They carried out various activities to evaluate the students´ perspective and knowledge of animal health and treatment as it pertains to village life; the information they collected during these first few days will allow them to design a long-term project according to the community´s needs.
