Have you ever gotten the urge to build something... with your own two hands? Well, now you have the perfect opportunity to play in the mud and forget your daily stress -- and come away with the skills to build your own home... or anything else!
Clay is one of the oldest and most flexible materials used for building -- and, best of all, it´s found naturally all over the world. In our four-day workshop you will learn how to identify natural clay and make the mix that works best in your climate. We will show you different methods of building, how to make and lay bricks, and how to mix and build with cob. Then (this is the best part), YOU will actually DO IT YOURSELF! Every course includes a small building project in which you can gain the experience and confidence you need to embark on your own building adventure.

9 am: Pick up from the Jalapa bus terminal and transport to Finca los Tres Mundos
12 pm: Lunch and ice breakers
1 pm - 4:30 pm: Identifying clay -- natural clays and where to find them; building options and overview of climatic factors that influence building styles
6 pm: Dinnertime!
8 am: Breakfast
9 am: Brick making and laying (hands-on). Making and labeling test bricks.
12 pm: Lunch
1 pm - 4:30 pm: Slide show, discussion and practice: designing for cob.
Mixing and building with cob: tricks and techniques (hands-on).
6 pm: Dinnertime!
8 am: Breakfast
9 am: Alternative methods using clay: when and how to use them. Begin final building project (design and foundation).
12 pm: Lunch
1 pm - 4:30 pm: Continue building project.
6 pm: Dinnertime!
8 am: Breakfast
9 am: Finish building project. Discussion of the building experience.
12 pm: Lunch and closing.
1 pm: Departure for Xalapa. |

| Cost
The price of the course includes: all meals, shared accommodation in an adobe cabin, pick-up and drop off from/to Jalapa, and all materials used in the course.
The price of the course does not include medical expenses or personal items (souveniers, toiletries, etc.).
2,000 Mexican pesos (about $150 US dollars)
